Liberty International Conference in August

The world is transforming more rapidly every year, and Liberty International [ https://liberty-intl.org/ ] has spent nearly five decades bringing together a worldwide community of libertarians dedicated to fostering the ideas of a free society. This year’s Liberty International World Conference, “How to Find Freedom in Our Fast-Changing World,” [ https://liberty-intl.org/puertorico/ ] is being held in Puerto Rico on Aug. 8–12, and Libertarian National Committee Chair Nicholas Sarwark will join dozens of other renowned speakers from across the globe to highlight the world’s most serious challenges to freedom.

Sarwark, who was first elected as LNC chair in 2014 and is currently serving his second term, will speak about “Promoting Open Borders in an Environment of Fear.” Immigration is an especially timely topic today, as governments in the United States, Europe, Asia, and elsewhere try to suppress the free flow of labor and capital. “It’s a shame that many in the media are trying to make Americans feel fear and suspicion toward immigrants,” Sarwark has said. The list of other speakers includes a wide array of notable libertarian figures, including some with strong ties to the Libertarian Party. Dr. Mary Ruwart — author of Healing Our World: The Compassion of Libertarianism, [ http://www.ruwart.com/product/healing-our-world ] former LNC at-large representative, and runner-up for the 2008 Libertarian Party presidential nomination — will speak about health care costs and regulatory overreach by the Food and Drug Administration. Paul Jacob, president of the Liberty Initiative Fund [ http://libertyifund.org/ ] and former national director of the Libertarian Party, will talk about how people can fight for freedom at the ballot box.

Geoffrey Neale, former LNC chair and current chair of the International Alliance of Libertarian Parties, will discuss the interplay between libertarian philosophy and politics. Liberty International’s board of directors also includes Dr. Jim Lark, former LNC chair and current regional representative.

“Our World Conference will give you the opportunity to meet fellow liberty-lovers from around the world, make new friends, enjoy intellectual stimulation from many of the world’s top international speakers, and do it all in a relaxed family re-union atmosphere,” Liberty International explained. “Many past participants have called their LI World Conference experience ‘the event of a lifetime.’”

The conference kicks off with a cocktail reception and buffet dinner on Tuesday, Aug. 8, and closes with a gala banquet on Friday, Aug. 11. Breakfasts, lunches, and dinners are included throughout the rest of the event, as well as an open forum and musical entertainment in the evenings.

Full conference registration is $599, not including the heavily discounted hotel rates that Liberty International has arranged. Registrations for individual days and events are available, as are much lower registration rates for current students.
